[CENTERING 1010] - BOOK - 7 x 10", 120 pg, perfect-bound, first edition
/// we picked up the second to last box of these beauties from William direct, in order to have available for new site launch in December.
Throughout his life as an artist of note & renown, William Parker has made it a point to shine light on those who do not often receive recognition for their work. There have always been song dedications and odes to their inspiration in his album liner notes. And, on a grand scale, there are the three extant volumes of his indispensable Conversations books published by RogueArt, which, through relaxed & in-depth interviews allow the artists to speak readily and freely in their own words.
Voices In The First Person uses the same approach, featuring William's interviews with [ and of course, beautiful images of work by ] the visual artists Lois Eby, Anne Humanfeld, Jo Wood-Brown, and Marilyn Sontag. Each of these women have collaborated with Mr. Parker in various projects over the years. Lois Eby's work has graced a number of his albums, including the Wood Flute Songs and Voices Fall From The Sky box sets, and Jo Wood-Brown's work is featured on the Migration of Silence Into and Out of The Tone World box set.
While each of these artist's approaches is distinct, what all of these women share is the belief that art belongs to all people and is integral, essential even, to a well lived life, as these interviews and their work itself reveals.
A wonderful book & beautifully printed.
With a long-form poem & introduction by William Parker.
