The tracks were recorded via various mediums in a living room in Chicago, bedrooms in Philadelphia and Queens, a clocktower in Brooklyn, a studio in Los Angeles, and were played on three different double basses. As a body of work, their underlying commonality is that they mark a time when I was single-mindedly intent on expressing very specific emotional and spiritual impulses through the double bass. The focus of every piece here is the extra-musical information being felt or aimed at, the things that I couldn’t—or wouldn’t— articulate in words.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e“It is also a record made in the closet. That process was a joy from jump.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDuring the time just prior to and following its release, I spent countless hours listening to bass works which Devra had put up on her Bandcamp page. That listening always offered a calm, sonically embracing space that proved a solace from the turbulence \u0026amp; unabated ugliness on rampant display in the outside world; especially since fascism became the way in this country. Listening to these beautiful works was a centering experience for me as well – offering a sonic center from the imbalance and turmoil prevalent in my personal life at that time, too.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is the nexus of that bountiful work which is presented here anew on \u003cem\u003eBaile as Baile\u003c\/em\u003e, and I do consider it a priceless gem.
